  • Manage supplier accounts and ensure supplier invoices are processed accurately and within the deadline given
  • Reconcile supplier invoices
  • Liaise with colleagues and suppliers when necessary to resolve any reconciliation issues and to avoid the invoices being placed in query where possible

About You

You should be highly motivated, driven and passionate. The Waste and Compliance Auditor will support the Waste and Compliance Audit Manager. The primary job function will be conducting supplier and customer site audits, desk-top audits, and producing audit reports.

The ideal candidate must have good organisational and time management skills as well as a good understanding of M/S office packages. Waste industry experience is essential.

Waste and Compliance Auditor responsibilities include conducting supplier and customer site audits and desk-top audits, providing comprehensive feedback to the business on the findings of these audits, and in respect of customer audits identifying and preparing proposals for upselling.

The post holder will ensure the safe, legally compliant and environmentally efficient management of waste. This will include audits of the compliance of Waste Contractor(s) and support continuous improvement activities that are required to achieve statutory and contractual targets e.g. Zero Waste to Landfill where directed, or source separation/segregation of waste materials.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Take personal ownership of liaising with the relevant stakeholders of waste management proposals/actions arisen from the site audits
  • Champion best practice in waste management and monitor the effectiveness of waste disposal procedures.
  • Build effective relationships with the customers, suppliers and stakeholders to embed the principles of the waste hierarchy into operations
  • Liaise with the Account Manager to develop practical plans to reduce waste arisings and improve recycling rates
  • Ensure efficient route planning for all site audits
  • Conduct audits efficiently and effectively, ensuring issues are highlighted to the Waste and Compliance Audit Manager as a priority
  • Ensure all customers are made aware of waste segregation procedures
  • Carry out site audits at customer sites, as directed, including identifying access issues or potential hazards which may add to the cost or prohibit the provision of the requested service
  • Carry out supplier desk-top audits strictly in compliance with Company audit procedures as notified from time to time
  • Conduct supplier facility duty of care audits strictly in accordance with Company procedures notified from time to time. Ensuring all documentation is received, reviewed and issued to the Compliance Assistant for uploading on to the Greenzone Database
  • Liaise with the Compliance Administrator to ensure all compliance documentation is correct and in date when completing supplier duty of care audits
  • Work closely with the Procurement department to effectively build supplier relationships to ensure compliance through supply chain

  • Any other ad-hoc duties as reasonably required
Essential Skills
  • At least two years’ experience working in the waste industry
  • Full clean driving license
  • Experience building strong customer and supplier relations
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Flexibility to travel between customer and supplier sites
  • Honesty and integrity
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • An awareness of the waste duty of care and waste hierarchy
  • An awareness of the legal requirements when operating a waste facility
Experience and Skills
