What's the Difference between a Portable and Industrial Battery?
UK Battery Regulations define a portable battery or battery pack as one which is sealed, can be hand-carried without difficulty, and is neither an automotive or industrial battery. To help with this definition The Environment Agency has issued guidance to clarify the open-ended question of what constitutes something that can be easily hand carried.
The guidance states “From 1st January 2016 any battery over 4 kg will be classed as industrial. Batteries below 4 kg may still be classed as industrial if they are designed exclusively for professional or industrial use”. Greenzone can advise you if you are unsure on any waste rules and regulations including batteries.
Our in-house Compliance and Quality Team are always working to ensure you are fully compliant. As a business, no matter how big or small, you don’t need the headache of falling short of waste disposal regulations.
