Overview

A national outdoor activities centres, in over 30 locations across the UK wanted a total waste management partner who would deliver a consistent service with the ability to adapt to the seasonal nature of the business, whilst supporting them on their sustainability goals.

The Challenge

Accessibility – the sites, often located in rural locations, sometimes on private roads, presented accessibility challenges for standard refuse collection vehicles and often resulted in missed collections and waste becoming a problem to manage on site.

Environment – due to the woodland setting of the venues, maintaining the environment and keeping litter to a minimum was of utmost importance. Seasonality – because of the rural location, sites are exposed to the elements, subsequently, they are more popular during the summer period, which has a direct impact on waste arising.

Sustainability – keeping landfill to a minimum and increasing recycling was also an important factor.
