Overview
A sporting facilities with over 45,000 visitors per year, hosting events 5 times a week leading to large influxes of spectators to the stadium.
The Challenge
The introduction of businesses Sustainability Charter demanded a strategic review of waste processes to improve the stadiums environmental impact. High volumes of waste are produced from onsite fast-food outlets, bars, restaurants and the function room. All waste was disposed of into a general waste compactor, with limited on-site segregation of recyclates. Single use products dominated the composition of the general waste stream, and visitors were disengaged, resulting in poor recycling rates.
