His Majesty King Charles III will officially be crowned at Westminster Abbey today as the 40th monarch of Great Britain.
The Coronation service will take place this morning at Westminster Abbey where the symbolic celebration will be carried out by the Archbishop of Canterbury and during the ceremony he will place the St Edward’s Crown on Charles’s head – a solid gold crown weighing in at a whopping 5lbs!
After the Service, Their Majesties, The King and The Queen Consort will return to Buckingham Palace in a large ceremonial procession known as ‘The Coronation Procession’ and will be joined by other members of the Royal Family. Finally, they will appear on the balcony to conclude the day’s ceremonial events. The Coronation creates a sense of occasion, inclusion and excitement and brings communities together to celebrate this historic moment that will be watched by millions of people in the UK and around the world.
Greenzone is supporting the Coronation by providing extra waste collections to sites in central London and Surrey. That means we’ve been doing 3 x daily collections of Equine Waste to Regents Park whilst they practice for the big day, plus we’re providing additional General Waste, Food Waste, and Sanitary Waste services to other sites. We know the troops are putting in the hard practice for the big day, so we’re providing extra services and giving them extra capacity to manage all the waste they’re producing. And we’re doing it sustainably, too! Thank you to Jack Bamford and the Account Coordination team for pulling out all the stops and coordinating the extra collections.
Also, in honour of this special occasion, Greenzone hosted a red white & blue themed day with #celebrations, #decorations and #donations! Making an appearance was two very special surprise guests which made everyone smile. As a way to mark the event all employees were gifted a commemorative coronation badge and all the funds raised will be donated to our chosen charities.
