Environmental Champion Winner 2022

This was the first year that Greenzone attended the awards as well as sponsoring a new award, “Environmental Champion”, which recognised businesses in the Newark area who had made significant steps to create a sustainable business that had far reaching impacts on the local community.

Hill Holt Wood 

Judging this category was incredibly difficult, and it was a privilege to meet with all the nominees this year. After much discussion internally, we awarded the environmental champion of the year award to Hill Holt Wood because as a social enterprise they work to change the lives of young people that otherwise would probably not have a real chance to thrive in a traditional education system. Their innovation and passion for what they do, how they use their environment and surroundings to teach and instil valuable life skills, left us feeling so uplifted and hopeful. Everyone should visit Hill Holt Wood to experience first-hand the genuine impact they are having on their local communities and learn more about their development plans. It is rare to visit somewhere that is truly sustainable and experience first-hand a vision for the future that puts its entire focus on social inclusion and change for the better.

Hockerton Housing Project

Hockerton Housing Project were highly commended by us for the excellent work that they do in supporting others to develop more sustainable ways of living. Their passion for teaching and sharing their knowledge and expertise shone through and everyone can learn from their sustainable approach to cleaner living for all.

Stormsaver

Stormsaver are a local business and the UK leaders of rain water harvesting for commercial, industrial, educational and domestic premises. The innovative solutions that they have developed makes them a global player, their commitment to Water Aid, the fantastic work that they do to nurture local talent and raise awareness around the importance of water conservation, makes them a truly sustainable business.

On the night, Zoe Grant our head of commercial and Jack Connors our head of operations presented the award for Environmental Champion to Steve Donagain CEO of Hill Holt Wood and Ryan Rousseau, head of finance.
